Visualising Cooperation in Exile I

Governments-in-exile, experts, and activists on an ArcGIS Map – Zoom in to find our more

The microcosm of Allied London was filled with exiles: academic communities, legal, economic and financial experts, and anti-colonial activists. Their spatial proximity in London fostered a unique environment of exchange, where different traditions of politics, academia, economic thought and activism converged in innovative forms of collaboration. The specific conditions of compressed space and time created a London Moment – perceived as a window of opportunity – that encouraged efforts to advance new ideas for post-war reform.

This map depicts locations of exiled presence in London: Offices used by the governments-in-exile, committee meeting venues of financial and legal experts, meeting places of pan-africanists, places of allied cooperation. Zoom in and click on one of the flags or dots to get further information.
