Radio Podcast: The Warsaw Uprising in 1944

In 1944, the Polish Home Army rose up against the German occupant, trying to liberate the Polish capital before the approaching Soviet forces reached the city. The Warsaw Uprising was tragically and cruelly crushed by forces under German command, leading to a tremendous loss of lives and an almost complete destruction of the city.

On the Irish “Talking History” programme (newstalk 106-108), Patrick Geoghegan discusses the Warsaw Uprising, the role of the Polish government in exile in London and much more with Julia Eichenberg, John Paul Newman and Alexandra Ritchie (aired on Sunday 10 December 2017, podcast here.)
